The short version

This page is the agreement between you and Elevate Logic Labs LLC, the company that makes Nearer. By using the app, you're agreeing to it. We've tried to write it the way we'd say it out loud.

1. What Nearer is

Nearer is an AI faith companion. It's a quiet place to bring what you're carrying, to pray, and to sit with Scripture — written to feel like company at three in the morning, when there's nobody left to call.

2. What Nearer is not — please read this one properly

Nearer's words are written by software — not by a person, and not by God, Jesus, or any member of the clergy. They are not divine, not infallible, and carry no religious authority. They don't replace Scripture, your own prayers, your church, or the guidance of a pastor. If any of it ever helps, the help came from Him. The app is only a door.

3. Nearer is not a counsellor, doctor, or emergency service

Nearer is not a substitute for professional care of any kind — medical, mental health, legal or financial. If you are in crisis, thinking of harming yourself or someone else, or facing an emergency, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line right now. In the U.S., call or text 988. Nearer will show you a helpline when it hears something that worries it. That is a signpost, not a service, and never a replacement for a human being.

4. The words Nearer writes

Because the replies are generated by AI, they can sometimes be wrong, incomplete, or simply miss the point. Please use your own judgement, and go to a qualified person for anything that matters.

5. Using Nearer

Use Nearer lawfully and with respect. Please don't misuse it, disrupt it, or try to break it.

6. You must be 18

Nearer is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. Nearer is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to us and we will delete it.

7. Subscriptions

Nearer offers auto-renewing subscriptions, billed through your Apple account. Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. If you're on a free trial, it becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You can manage or cancel any time in your Apple account settings. Prices are always shown in the app before you buy anything.

8. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account secure. You can delete your account whenever you like, from inside the app: "Your space" → Delete account. When you do, we delete your data, apart from the little we're legally required to keep.

9. If something goes wrong

Nearer is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for damages arising from your use of the app.

10. Changes to this page

We may update these terms from time to time. If you keep using Nearer, you're accepting the updated version. The date at the top always tells you when it last changed.

11. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
